Rob Williams, PGA Professional
Rob Williams is a Marietta native and a graduate of Marietta High School. Rob played golf collegiately on the inaugural golf team at Kennesaw State University. He brings over thirty years of experience as a golf teacher and coach, with an area of expertise in the short game and putting instruction. Rob has worked with all levels of players including beginners, collegiate golfers, and tour players. Rob’s passion for studying and teaching putting has helped him develop his methodology for putting instruction.
The DEAD-AIM PUTTING philosophy is built around these three cornerstones
- AIM (great putting begins with proper aim)
- SET-UP (putting is a simple motion made complicated by an incorrect set-up)
- STROKE (big muscle stroke using upper back and shoulders, keeping arms connected to the body)
In short game instruction, Rob always believes in playing the safest and lowest risk shot at all times. Putt it whenever you can, chip it when you can’t putt it, and pitch it only when you must.
As for Rob’s full swing methodology, he doesn’t believe in a single swing method. Golfers come in all different shapes and sizes and with different physical limitations and abilities. You just can’t make every golfer swing the same way. The main goal is to try to get each student to swing the club in a consistent and repeating fashion, using an athletic motion that fits each person’s body type. Legendary golf professional John Jacobs said it best, “The sole purpose of the golf swing is to create a correct impact position, how that is done is of no consequence, as long as the method employed allows you to repeat it.”
